Floorcraft is a beloved Auki/Matterless classic. One of the first apps we created to showcase shared augmented reality. Two years ago, we used it to introduce ConjureKit — the first version of the Auki SDK. ConjureKit was all about instant calibration into shared AR sessions.

Since those early days, we’ve updated it with sleeker hovercraft, cooler obstacles, and more engaging gameplay where floorcraft can shoot each other with blasters. Of course, we also added support for playing inside posemesh domains, expanding beyond just ad hoc AR sessions.

We’ve paused development on our early games including Floorcraft to put our full focus on building the protocol itself as well as Cactus, the spatial AI platform for retail. But we think it would be a shame to just let Floorcraft languish after pouring so much love and work into it. In fact, we often find ourselves getting nostalgic about it.

Today, we’re excited to pass the baton on to the next passionate developer to continue building Floorcraft into the game it deserves to be. Interested in taking up the mantle? You’ll find it open sourced on GitHub: https://github.com/matterless/floorcraft-blasters/tree/develop.

By open sourcing Floorcraft, we hope to inspire new creators and build a vibrant community around crafting shared augmented reality experiences. Reskin it, add new features, or transform it entirely. The possibilities are endless in the castles of your imagination.
