Auki community update recap: Apr 25, 2025

Alpha AI: Pioneering Hong Kong's Smart Skies with Autonomous Drones

On April 25, the Auki community welcomed Desmond Ho, CEO of Alpha AI, for an inspiring discussion on the future of drones in urban environments. Alpha AI, a pioneering Hong Kong startup recently licensed for autonomous drone operations, is set to transform building inspections, logistics, and infrastructure management.

Autonomous Drone Inspections and Deliveries

Alpha AI specializes in autonomous drone inspections of buildings and infrastructure, dramatically reducing the time and cost associated with traditional methods. Inspections that previously required scaffolding and weeks of labor can now be completed safely within a day. Moreover, the recent regulatory sandbox environment in Hong Kong enables drone operations without the constant presence of visual observers, paving the way for greater efficiency and scalability.

Medical Deliveries and Environmental Sustainability

The discussion emphasized the potential of drones in delivering medical supplies, especially to remote islands, significantly reducing costs compared to helicopters. Additionally, drones promise to mitigate environmental impacts, preserving marine wildlife affected by increased ferry traffic.

Drone Docking and Charging Stations

Alpha AI plans to install strategically placed drone docking and charging stations throughout urban areas, enabling seamless autonomous operations. These stations, potentially located on rooftops or designated parks, facilitate efficient charging and logistical coordination.

Community Collaboration for Visual Positioning

Community involvement is essential for Alpha AI’s ambitious goal of creating detailed 3D maps required for drone navigation. These Auki-enabled visual positioning systems will support not only drone deliveries but also future autonomous vehicles and robots, contributing significantly to smart city development.

Global Expansion and Partnerships

Desmond revealed upcoming plans for international collaborations, including visits to Abu Dhabi and Dubai to explore blockchain integrations and partnerships with peaq as well as Japanese drone manufacturers. These partnerships aim to enhance drone capabilities in confined spaces, furthering Alpha AI's technological edge.

Vision for the Future

Within five years, Alpha AI anticipates around 100 drones operating regularly in Hong Kong, significantly reshaping urban logistics and infrastructure management. The ultimate vision is an interconnected, efficient, and sustainable urban environment supported by a sophisticated drone infrastructure network.

Community members are encouraged to join the Auki discord and contribute to this exciting journey through Alpha AI’s initiatives and the Auki network.

About Auki Labs

Auki is building the Auki network, a decentralized machine perception network for the next 100 billion people, devices and AI on Earth and beyond. The Auki network is a posemesh, an external and collaborative sense of space that machines and AI can use to understand the physical world.

Our mission is to improve civilization’s intercognitive capacity; our ability to think, experience and solve problems together with each other and AI. The greatest way to extend human reach is to collaborate with others. We are building consciousness-expanding technology to reduce the friction of communication and bridge minds.

About the Auki network

The Auki network is a posemesh: a decentralized machine perception network and collaborative spatial computing protocol, designed to allow digital devices to securely and privately exchange spatial data and computing power to form a shared understanding of the physical world.

The Auki network is an open-source protocol that powers a decentralized, blockchain-based spatial computing network. Designed for a future where spatial computing is both collaborative and privacy-preserving, it limits any organization's surveillance capabilities and encourages sovereign ownership of private maps of personal and public spaces.

The decentralization also offers a competitive advantage, especially in shared spatial computing sessions, AR for example, where low latency is crucial.
